mosaic elephant statue

I was inspired here by images of Ganesh, the Hindu god of prophecy. The starting point for the statue was a concrete block unearthed from the base of a rotten fencing post. Its shape suggested a bust, but it needed building up with more concrete to round it off. Shards, saucers and teapot spout were applied to it with cement mortar and then grouted in black cement grout. The supporting base was cast in a plastic tray with red stained cement. Overall it's some 50cm (20in) high.
