 The teatem pole

I never liked the sight of the washing line post in my garden. In spring 2000 I turned it into a ceramic totem sculpture with salvaged and scavenged crockery. It looks precarious, but actually the original metal pole runs up the middle, with the pieces threaded over the top and bonded with coloured mortar.

The name was thought up by my neighbour Lynn, on account of all the teapots and mugs included in it. It never fails to get a comment and an opinion from anyone who sees it!
