When we needed two coat racks I went for contrasting styles: typical pique assiette (with a red mug handle to form the 'C' of "Coats") and a more classical design. The richly glazed tiles for the second one were given me by a friend - they were left over from decorating - and very nice tesserae they made too! "Tesserae" is the name originally given to the marble cubes the Romans used in their mosaics, but nowadays it covers just about all kinds of mosaic materials, whether ceramic, stone or glass. |
