The curved east wall behind the altar features the Archangel above the white crosses of graves. The text "He restoreth my soul. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures" is from the 23rd Psalm. Directly over the altar, the radiant dove of the Holy Spirit links the scene to the approaching angels and aircraft on the ceiling The two pillars to either side of the altar are also mosaicked. On the wall to the right is the signature of the artist - Francis Scott Bradford 1953 - in faint mosaic typography (see the foot of this page).
