Mosaics and mosaic making information from The joy of shards Mosaics Resource


These are in the entrance to a municipal building north west of Bedford Square. There are three types of pseudo mosaic tiles here: a regular grid on the outside; the border - which imitates a guilloche ropework pattern - and the main part of the floor. Although it looks like the floor is made up of thousands of individual pieces, you can see the joins of the interlocking tiles and the repeated pattern in the pictures. (Clue: the photo at the bottom is around three tile-widths high.)
