casa vicens tiling

Casa Vicens was one of Gaudì's early commissions, being built mostly between 1883 and 1885. There's no actual mosaic, but the the owner was a ceramic tile manufacturer and the clading in bright tiles points the way for later work. Here, however, the tiling has a regular, Moorish, style in contrast to the freeform mosaic that was to become associated with Gaudì.

The next picture shows another view of the house, and the wrought iron fencing Gaudì designed for it.
