This gigantic mosaic sculpture is by Joan Miro (1893 - 1983), one of the greatest Catalan artists. It is called "Dona i Ocell", Catalan for "Woman and Bird" (recurrent themes in Miro's work). The Rough Guide to Barcelona claims is known locally by several other names. The sculpture is in the Parc Joan Miro, near the Tarragona metro station. There is another mosaic by Miro, in Las Ramblas, a bold pavement design (see below). The Fundacio Joan Miro (Miro museum), near the Olympic Stadium, is a definite must-see.
